Carthage awards one full-tuition-per year, renewable, Teacher Education Scholarship each year to an incoming freshman majoring in education. This scholarship is renewable for four years.
Merging theory and practice, the Teacher Education Program at Carthage cultivates highly competent, caring, and committed teachers. Carthage firmly believes in experiential learning, sending teacher candidates into local schools early and often to observe, plan, and teach lessons.

How to Apply
Candidates interested in applying for the Teacher Education Scholarship must complete the following no later than December 3:
- Submit an application for admission to Carthage and supporting materials (high school transcripts).
- Submit the Teacher Education Scholarship Application. (Deadline: December 3, 2024)
- Submit a one-page essay: Explain why you want to become a teacher. (This is part of the online scholarship application.)
To apply for a scholarship, candidates must intend to major in education.
Application Review and Second Round
A Carthage scholarship committee will review your application and high school grades. Qualified applicants will be notified in late December. Successful candidates and their families will be invited to the second round of the Teacher Education Scholarship Program, which will take place on the Carthage campus on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Participation is a requirement for consideration for the Teacher Education Scholarship.
The Teacher Education Scholarship incorporates all Carthage assistance. Scholarships and grants may be combined with federal and state grants, not to exceed full tuition. Carthage also offers additional scholarships. See our scholarship page for details.
