Music Ensembles
The Carthage Music Department features several music ensembles for students of all majors. The Carthage music ensembles are not only exceptional performance ensembles; they are also interactive “learning laboratories” for our music students. The ensembles allow students to perform in a variety of styles and venues, both on campus and off. Workshops and clinics are arranged so ensembles can also provide educational support for regional schools.
Lambda Kappa
Lambda Kappa, a music Greek organization, is a co-ed society for students who love music. The organization is open to all students who are involved in a musical ensemble on or off-campus whether or not they are a music major or minor. The purpose of this fraternity is to encourage high standards in creativity, performance, and education of music, and to advocate collective support of all endeavors of students of music.
NAfME: The National Association for Music Education — Carthage Chapter
Carthage has a chapter of NAfME The National Association for Music Education, which has recently become an active organization on campus. The focus of the group is to help prepare music education students for their chosen profession through bi-weekly meetings, professional development opportunities, and service projects within the music department on campus and in the community. It is a priority of the members of NAfME to become competent and caring educators in the field of music to enrich the lives of students.
